If someone were to tell me ok Nat, you are only allowed to own eyeshadows from one brand and you must get rid of everything else, I would pick hands down Makeup Geek shadows. Why you ask? *points down at the pictures* Yah, that’s why. lol. No really, these are amazeballs. From the price to the quality, there is no company that has the hand up on Makeup Geek. Marlena, if you happen to read this (in my dreams), you did an amazing job and continue to do so! Canada (and this blogger) loves you and your products!
I was bored and kind of bummed out. To cheer myself up I decided to spend some money!!! Problem was I had no money. All that I was able to scrounge up was about $12 (Side note: this scenario is the exact theory behind ‘The $10 Weekly’. I’m almost always able to pinch together $10 if I need/want something but much more than that requires budgeting). A very long time ago Missy wrote about Sally Beauty. She quite likes it for hair products and has been telling me that I might like it too. I decided that today was the day that I’d finally go and see how far my money goes at Sally Beauty!
It is no secret that I love Makeup Geek, not only the company, the founder, Marlena, and the quality of these shadows. I originally posted about these when the 1st set of colours came out last fall and I had gotten 4 colours. You can see that post here. You can see the dents in them.. they are so loved.
In April, Makeup Geek made my month by coming out with 10 new shades you can see on the bottom on my Z Palette. These shades… OMG these shades. They are perfect for spring, they are wearable for daytime and you can use them to add a pop of colour to the middle of the lid or on the bottom of the lid.
These shadows are almost a pressed cream shadow, and the lighter colours do kick up a bit of chunks because of the formula, but it doesn’t change the quality or the pigmentation. They apply best with the fingers but I also like to use the E.L.F shadow brush and press lightly on the lid.
These retail for $9.99 USD and the shipping is also very reasonable to Canada. It is just up to you to decide if they are worth it (pssst, a little secret, all Makeup Geek shadows ARE worth it) and I highly recommend them.
I have been going back to this foiled eyeshadow the most from the 8 that I own. My go-to look that I have done most of the month and can do quickly in the morning (when I am still half asleep and rushing to leave for the office) with all MUG is Coco Bear in the crease, In the Spotlight all over the lid (blending afterwards) with Vanilla Bean as a brow highlight. Sometimes I use Bitten to darken the outer corner of the lid just so slightly.
Makeup Geek Foundation Stippling Brush (Revised Design)
First thing, I just checked on the website and they are now selling only the classic design of this brush. They had taken out the revised design, which is the one that I purchased, that had the smaller head. The classic design has a slightly larger head. I may just need to get myself one….
This is the 1st brush that I have tried that does not streak my foundation. It spreads the foundation evenly, lightly, just lovely. The bristles are stiff enough not to bend when you needed to stipple product on the spots where you need it most. Holy grail status for me so far! It retails for $17.99 USD on the Makeup Geek website.
Christmas has come and gone (sadly 😦 ) December is one of my favourite months of the year and I hate to see it go. This month, has been a quiet month for too much trying on of new products so the ones I have outlined below I have loved and used all month long. I won’t bore you with too many candles this month (even though I could because there is a candle lit in my house every day and every evening after work!) But to start, I will mention only one and get it out of the way fast so you can get to other goodies 🙂
I hope you are all ready for my ramble of awesomeness. Well, I will say it, these are amaze-balls!! So I was already a fan of the Makeup Geek eyeshadows; they are pigmented, the price is very affordable, cheaper than some at the drugstore (like the L’Oréal Infalliable eyeshadows) and you also get a good amount of product.
