Nat’s May Beauty Favourites!

I can’t believe that May has already come and gone. In my mind, June feels so far away and it’s not… it means half the year has passed… CRAZY!! May has been a weird and busy month. When I say weird, I refer to the weather, we had hot weather, lots of wind, cold weather and risk of frost more than normal. UGH! It was so busy with so many events, mother’s day, my husband’s and his dad’s birthday, gardening, oh so much gardening (but I like it). Phiew, I am tired just typing this. I was able to use some of things below because they made things easy and made me happy this month. Here we go!

Yay or Nay Sunday – *New Julep Feels Like Velvet Eyeshadow Duos

Before I start this week’s post. I want to apologize, this post was supposed to go up last week and time got the best of me and so did my gardening! So here it is, a week late, I am sorry!

On this week’s Yay or Nay Sunday, Julep’s new Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage eyeshadow duos. These came out in the May Maven box and I am very very glad they did. If you saw my post earlier this week on Julep’s palettes, you know that I was not a big fan of those. But these duos, are completely different! Let me tell you about these and why I think they should make a larger range of colours!

The Facts

There are 5 duos that Julep released in this new eyeshadow formula that have fun names! They named them after things that go well together; you will see what I mean:

  • Coconuts & Cabanas: Chocolate shimmer & metallic antique gold
  • Moonlight & Starlight: Matte lilac grey & white sand shimmer
  • 5th Ave & Broadway: Matte peach & metallic rose gold
  • Sequins & Showtime: Slate shimmer & pearl
  • Luck & Magic: Metallic boysenberry & taupe with gold shimmer

Julep Long Weekend Eyeshadow Palette

Julep came out with their new palette, the Long Weekend Palette. It is themed for a nice long weekend and things you would want to do, you will see what I mean in the names of the shadows. When the 1st palette the Photogenic Palette came out, Sheena reviewed it. You can see her post here. It is worth checking out since it goes in depth in that palette and even if I compare the swatches below, I won’t review it deeply.

As for me, I purchased this palette during the opening of the Julep Secret Store at a discounted price of $19.99 which is pretty hard to beat for an eyeshadow palette. Especially when this one is competing with palettes such as Urban Decay’s Naked palettes in a similar price range. I will say that I am glad that I got it at that price because I don’t think it is worth the current full price of $54 (or $43.20) but it is still decent for a lower price. This is the palette I would bring with me when travelling because I could do many looks but also, if it got lost or broke, I wouldn’t be super heart broken over it.

Nat’s April 2015 Favourites!

It’s here… it’s FINALLY HERE!  Yes, Spring is here. With the very cold weather we have been having, it was so refreshing to have weather that we don’t need boots and gloves. With that came some inspiration to do lighter brighter makeup. I am also still trying to go through my collection and try out as much as I can. So let’s jump into some favourites.

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedano Sands

I just reached for this one day, why? I was looking for a natural lip on a no makeup makeup day and I was pleasantly surprised by this. I like lip crayons and this one fits the bill in my book. It is hydrating and my lips feel soft while wearing it. It is also a perfect my lips but better colour and you could almost not tell if I am wearing something but you know my lips look better than normal. I have been pairing this with Julep Lipgloss in Charming. Makes a great natural look. Love it.

Happy Mani-versary Julep!

Julep Maniversary

What a special month! A year ago this month I became a Julep Maven 🙂 There’s been a lot of great moments with them which is why I am still a customer today. In fact, I have tried and unsubscribed from Ipsy, Birchbox, Topbox and Wantable but I just can’t seem to quit Julep. This post is a love-fest for my favourite nail polish brand, Julep! My favourite polishes, beauty products and in general what keeps me as a happy customer. It’s a long post so get yourself a coffee and a comfy chair 🙂

Yay or Nay Sunday – Julep Luxe Lip

This week on Yay or Nay Sunday,  Julep Luxe Lip.

This one is easy, its a Nay. This is will a very small and simple review. Even if I am in LOVE with the Julep lipglosses (see my review here and my swatches here), I do not feel the same way about this Luxe Lip. Basically, it didn’t last long on my lips. You can see the swatch below, it’s sheer and the glitter in it makes it feel gritty on the lips. The worst part is the smell. ANYTHING would be better than the plastic chemical smell. Not what I want to smell under my nose… To top it off, it tastes horrible. It is also super thin and runny. It seems to slide right off of the lips and it disappear rather fast.

Yay or Nay Sunday – Julep Invisible Dry Shampoo

Happy Easter everyone!! Enjoy time with your family and friends this weekend 🙂

This week on Yay or Nay Sunday, we have a quick review on Julep’s Invisible Dry Shampoo. I added this as an add-on on my cart (for $6.99) on a julep order a while back and have been testing it out for a while. It retails for $22.50 or $17.60 for Mavens.

Very simply, this product is a YAY, especially if you get it for $6.99 add-on price that I got it for!

Yay or Nay Sunday – Julep Light On Your Lips Lipsticks

If you follow me on Instagram (@nat_3canadianbeauties) or Twitter (@NatBuchanan23) you saw my swatches for the new Julep Light On Your Lips Lipsticks.

They were launched with this month’s Julep Maven box and are new to their makeup line. By the way, how brilliant is it that they give to all their monthly subscribers the option to add these new products to their box? This way they get press, reviews, bloggers and word of mouth out pretty quickly. Then they give you a 10$ off code in your box, so if you like the products you can go purchase them again at a discount. Very good idea Julep.

Yay or Nay Sunday – Julep Blank Canvas Plumping Lip Primer

Of all my subscriptions, I cannot break up with Julep. They are branching out into more and more makeup and I love it. I am in for the ride and happy to try out these new products as they come out. I find that their makeup can be hit or miss but the stuff that I like from them, I really like (like my obsession with their lipglosses and their brushes). This week however, on Yay or Nay we are talking about Julep’s Blank Canvas Plumping Lip Primer, and this is not one of my likes. It is unfortunately a Nay. It is not even a product that I will pass along to someone else. It was that bad.
