I’ve heard a little buzz about this concealer but not nearly as much as I hear about the Maybelline Fit Me concealer or the Lumis. To be honest, I’m not sure why more people aren’t talking about this concealer!? Perhaps it’s because it’s hard to find it’s high end equivalent? Anyway, that’s all beside the point. The bottom line is; here is a heavy duty concealer that retails for $5.98 at Walmart and that works!

Let’s Talk About Swatching! Concealer Edition

Concealer is the first beauty item I’d bring with me if I was ever stranded on a deserted island (and camping supplies obviously … but now I’m getting away from my analogy). I learned in grade 7 that a good concealer can boost your self confidence when you’re talking to people.  Since my middle school self was always wondering if someone was focusing on my zit, under eye circles, weird dark spot, etc. I learned that concealer can make all those faults disappear! However, it’s equally bad if you don’t have the right concealer which means people are looking at you and wondering why you have a blob of weird beige on your face.

Concealers have the double duty of needing to blend in with you skin tone but also correct inflammation and dark spots. Concealers have a tough job and it’s up to you to decide to spend your money on a good one.

Concealers come in many different forms – liquid, solid, and sometimes powder. While I’ve dabbled in all three I prefer solid concealer for my sporadic breakouts and dark circles. If you’re using a good liquid or powder foundation I find liquid and powder concealer, frankly, repetitive and they can be very tough to build up. Liquid concealer is, however ideal if you just have minor dark circles and larger areas of discoloration you wish to conceal. I recomend Clinique Line Smoothig Concealer and Benefit Hello Flawless or Bare Minerals Broad Spectrum Multitaksing Face.

*NEW* Physician’s Formula Wear Touch of Glow foundation & concealer – A Review

2015-01-14

The new, shiny and pink display at my local Shoppers Drugmart is from Physicians Formula. They came out with new concealer, face powder quad, liquid foundation and foundation stick. I had a gift card and nothing to lose so I decided to give Physicians Formula another try. I purchased the liquid foundation and concealer. Once again, I have a lot to say so let’s get to it.

Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette in Light

After much praise from EmilyNoel83 on youtube I finally broke down and bought my first Sonia Kashuk product. For $10.49 I think that this could potentially be a great buy for someone in the market for a fair priced concealer. Unfortunately for me Target Canada has just announced that they are going bankrupt and so I won’t be able to get Sonia Kashuk for much longer!

Make that concealer STICK!

Another random tip time from Sheena!!!

My eyes water and I have a habit of wiping them a lot. As result I have a hard time with not only concealer but also; mascara, eye liner on the lower lash and eyeshadow around the lower lash. If I want to do a cool smokey eye it tends to disappear on me after an hour or two. It can be very frustrating. The most annoying thing that I find about it is that my concealer seems to get wiped away after a few hours of wear and I really need concealer! My trouble spot on my face is my deep set eyes with dark circles. I’ve tried so many concealers; Benefit Boing Boing Cream & the Erase Paste, Smashbox brightener, various Lumi’s that exist, and currently my Maybelline Fit (I’ve tried more but the point of this blog post isn’t to discuss my concealers themselves). No matter what I try, high end or low end, they all melt away under my eyes after a few hours.

I don’t have a solution that works for me regarding the lower lash mascara, liner etc but I have recently solved the longevity of concealer with products that I already own!!

Lumi Vs. Lumi

IMG_0885
Lumi vs Lumi

Both Maybelline and L’Oreal have promised a “luminous” concealer that both hides imperfections and discoloration while brightening the skin. I heard through the world of youtube vloggers and beauty bloggers that one or both these luminous products (both having the word “Lumi” in their name thus causing me some confusion) were a dupe for some high end concealers. In particular one from YSL.
