Dollarama Magic Eraser

The question I present you today is… does this $2 Magic Eraser knock off really work??? I tested it out and here’s the results!

Decluttering My Makeup Collection – Part 3, Eyeliners

I skipped to my little drawer unit I have on my vanity because my mom was over the other night and asked me, “do you have an eyeliner”? I laughed; doΒ I have an eyeliner?? lol of course! So I brought my drawer down so she can try her hand at a wing liner. Since my eyeliners were out, I just decided to declutter them.

I first started by sorting them all by colour then swatching them to see what I want to keep, what is similar, etc. You will see below, I made it a little different. It was easier to just summarize by colour and compare in one paragraph instead of boring you with the same rationales twice.

ELF Haul!!

I finally did it! I finally found things on ELF’s site that they don’t sell in Canada, that I was interested in and while they were having a great sale! Some of the stuff I bought they do sell here but others they don’t. I added some items to tip me over the free shipping threshold. It;s not free shipping to Canada but if you get the free shipping they basically discount your shipping and it works out to be around $2.50 USD for shipping. I think that’s acceptable so I went on ahead and ordered!

BH Cosmetics and the Carly Bybel Palette

I kid you not, I hardly remember making this purchase. All I know is that one cold day in December I woke with an emotional hangover to find a series of purchase confirmations in my email. I guess I was lonely and decided that I needed more makeup… I immediately had buyer remorse because I’m not really a huge Carly Bybel fan and I had little interest in the palette. I searched Youtube and found that everyone LOVED it. They RAVED about it. I had to dig really deep to find bad reviews on it. Seeing the positive reviews perked up my spirits a little but my expectations still weren’t high. Carly is a high profile Beauty Guru and I didn’t think many aspiring youtubers would say anything bad about her. Cynical? Damn right I am.

In a surprisingly short period of time (about a week) my package arrived. Here’s what I got:

Sleek Makeup Oh So Special Palette – A Review

I was Oh So excited to get this off of Amazon for $15! (me so punny) I tried Sleek Makeups blushes and was very impressed so I decided to try out an eyeshadow palette. Sleek is a UK based makeup brand that is known for budget friendly, high quality makeup. They have a website that ships to Canada for free but after a $75 purchase. $75 can go a long way at Sleek so before I did a full on haul, I wanted to just try out some shadows. I have to say, a haul might be in order for 2016!

W7 Lightly Toasted Palette – A review of a Naked Palette Dupe

I hauled this some time ago. It cost me about $11 and change, tax included, shipping included from W7 (or War Paint Cosmetics – love that name!) is a UK makeup company that does blatant dupes of popular brands. I read lots of reviews of this product and found that some swore by it and others were less than impressed. I happened to have $11 and was contemplating getting an Urban Decay Naked dupe so this guy managed to find it’s way in to my shopping cart πŸ™‚ I don’t own the Naked palette but was considering getting a dupe because I want it but I don’t feel the need to pay $64 for it when there are so many other good dupes or similar style palettes out there for less. Did this palette fill that gap for me?

In November I posted a drugstore haul. I thought I’d update on a few of the items that I picked up that I don’t intend on writing full reviews for. Just so people could get a sense of how things worked out… the good and the bad… that kind of thing. I’ve noticed some youtubers that I enjoy such as RachhLoves do updates on hauls and I really appreciate watching them! So here’s my first attempt πŸ™‚

Drugstore Holiday Set Review – NYX Butt “Naked” Turn The Other Cheek

You know when you’re having an emotional day and the only thing you can do is fill that void with more makeup? Yeah that feeling. That’s how I ended up with this palette. I was having a bit of an emotional day (for no particular reason) and I happened to walk in to a Shoppers for something else and ended up buying this because I NEEDED points. I HAD to have a travel palette since I was going to Montreal in a few hours. It was absolutely necessary. And so, armed with a cache of flimsy reasoning I paid $29.99 for this. I did take it with me to Montreal and only this palette. Did I regret it?

The $10 Weekly – Goodbye to The $10 Weekly!!

It’s time to say Goodbye! Goodbye to The $10 Weekly! It’s been an adventure writing this column. When I started it, the idea was to take $10 a week and see how far I could stretch it – then tell the world about my hidden gems or massive duds πŸ™‚ As the year comes to a close I feel that it’s time to make some changes and one of those changes is to freshen up my writing!

The $10 Weekly – Special Edition – All Time Faves from the $10 Weekly

Sometimes when I hear bloggers/vloggers discuss budget makeup it sort of sounds like they’d rather be buying high end but if they must buy drugstore than X is an ok product. Now don’t get me wrong, many bloggers/vloggers clearly love the more budget friendly category of makeup! I’m not accusing anyone of anything here it just makes me think a little… of all the products that I’ve tried out on the $10 Weekly. Of all the ones I’ve reviewed and said I’d liked, what ones truly made their way in to my regular rotation?

November Drugstore “Haul”

I call this is “haul” with quotation marks because I didn’t buy everything at once. I’ve purged a lot and focused on using up the things that I have which means there were some items that I needed to replace! Plus I found a few gaps in my makeup collection that just HAD to be filled πŸ™‚ This is what I’ve picked up recently. Let me know if you’re interested in full reviews of anything!

The $10 Weekly – Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base

The Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow base is likely the most inexpensive eye primer that I’ve personally come across. It’s only $2.99! I’ve been wanting to try this one for so long but never got around to it because eyeshadow primer is so easy to come by. I have 4 or 5 sitting around waiting to be used up… It’s kind of embarrassing… Eventually I broke down and picked this one up for the sake of this blog πŸ™‚ So you’re welcome!
