Nat’s Favourites April – June 2017

It seems I have been slacking on the blog lately, my excuse, the transition back to being on mat leave to work, I didn’t expect it to be this tired… early bedtimes and just all over tired / busy has taken over. But I miss you guys! So as a come back, here are my April – June Favs! Lots to chat about 🙂

APRIL FAVS

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar

I think I have talking about this before but I still have been using it like crazy this month. I love the neutral looks that are quick and cute that I am able to get out of it. The formula is great, smooth, blends well, pigmented, just easy to work with. I also do not shy away from the blue! Lots of people say, oh it’s a great palette but ignore the blue, I say, embrace the blue! I use it to add a pop of blue in the outer corner with a nice navy liner, see below!

Nat’s March 2017 Favourites

My month of March was full but so much fun! I escaped the last hit of winter in spring by going to florida for 12 days and heading to Disney and it was my daughter’s 1st birthday (omg time flies… it really does). I used the same things a lot this month and a few stand outs from my trip. It is not a long list but products that are worth it!

NYX #03 brush

So soft. Sooo soft! OK, I guess you know that this brush is soft. But I have to say it again, it is soooo soft lol. I also love the shape of it, it works well bronzer, blush or powder. I found it a very versatile brush that you can multitask with. I have other brushes that are just as soft but I found that the brushes aren’t as dense or have trouble picking up enough product. I do not have any issues with this brush. I love it.

Missy’s March Favorites

Image result for march in like a lion out like a lamb

Ottawa’s March came in like a lion and is leaving like a lamb. I used this loooong month of limbo between winter and spring to try out some new cosmetics and do some journaling.

Beauty Counter Cleansing Balm

Beauty Counter is a new line I’m trying out. My face has been breaking out pretty bad lately so I was interested in trying out a product line that prides itself in using the best ingredients possible and none of the nasty stuff (above and beyond US and Canadian Regulations).

This cleansing balm is everything I want in a face cleaner, melts away make-up and leaves my skin feeling awesome. The site lists tons of benefits but I think the best thing about this product is that it’s practically a one-step cleanser and moisturizer! LOOOOOVE it. Continue reading

Nat’s Feb 2017 Favourites

Hey Guys,

Phiew, long time no talk. The last weeks have been insane, from being sick to having my precious girl being admitted to the hospital and then more… So let’s just say that I haven’t had lots of time to blog or put on makeup. However, there are a couple things I wanted to talk about since I did have chance to use them and love them. So here we go, a short but good one this month!

Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense in Black Honey

This eyeliner is life. I love it. It glides on soo smoothly for an easy, quick application. The colour is also exactly what I am looking for. I am not a fan of black eyeliner so I love dark colours that are still dark but not black. If you are aware of the Black Honey line, the liner keeps with the trend. It is like a mix of brown and burgundy that makes the green in my eyes pop. Loving it.

Missy’s February 2017 Favorites

Whenever I think about February, I think about Valentines’ Day and my husband’s birthday. Both great times for dates! For this month’s favorites I’m going to look at romantic make-up and skin care.

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter

I first got hooked on these pots of wonder when Sheena gave me a big one she had gotten tired of. Another woman’s cast away is another woman’s treasure! Nat got me an amazing set of the travel sized body butters for Christmas and I love all the subtle scents and the velvety finish it gives my skin head to foot! If you like light scents, thick cream, and quick pay off I highly recommend this product.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy

This is possibly the best lip balm out there. Reasonably priced with no harsh smell or effect this lip balm takes my lips from Sahara Desert to sultry after a few nightly applications. I got this balm in a kit and I will definitely be purchasing it again!

tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Bae

What’s more romantic (and kick ass) then a red pout? This liquid lipstick is ultra-pigmented which allows me to have lightweight velvety lips in a sophisticated matte finish. I was on the fence about this product at first, but I now seriously love this product. It certainly isn’t for everyday application and you NEED a lip brush to apply it properly but I love the effect and the results. Bonus – it doesn’t transfer as much as traditional lipstick!

Sheena’s February 2017 Favourites

February, the month of LOVE! This month is not only Valentines Day but also my wedding anniversary and my babies first birthday! So much love for 1 tiny month. I also have a few beauty loves to share 🙂

Joe Fresh Toner

I normally use a toner from Thayer but recently I was at the grocery store and noticed new Joe Fresh Skincare. I looked at the ingredients of a lot of their products and was pleasantly surprised to see very little crap ingredients. I decided to try out their toner, even though its more expensive than my Thayer toner. I’m definitely happy with the quality of the Joe fresh toner, it’s $12.99 a bottle and does the job well. Totally worth picking up if you’d rather get skincare products in a convenient place like Loblaws.

Wet’n’Wild Crease Brush

I found this at the dollar store for $2.50. I regret not buying more. This brush makes a fantastic blender. I love using it clean to blend out the edges of shadow I’ve already laid down. A good brush for $2.50 is a score. If I see them again I’m definitely going to pick up more!

ABH Modern Renaissance

I caved and finally bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. I had a Sephora gift card burning in my pocket, a stressful week that ended with an Email from Sephora telling me that the palette was FINALLY back in stock so I made my bad week slightly better by picking this beauty up. The quality is amazing. ABH shadows are definilty the shadows to beat now! I was also really impressed with the wearability of this palette. The rich cranberry shades only makeup a few colours in the palette. I tried to make a very light, hardly there, look with it and was totally able to succeed! This palette can be everything to someone who likes those burgundy shades for night outs and golden tones for day time.

I took a couple pictures just to show how soft and subtle you can get with this palette. I think it’s a huge contrast to a lot of the looks that I see out there for this palette. I was really intimidated by this palette at first but honestly it’s so versatile! You definitely can use this one palette for a whole range of looks!

And that’s my month! I’ve been still plugging away at my Project Pan. I have to say that I’m so pleased with my progress that I can relax a little and use a broader variety of items. I love being able to use up products AND dabble with new items! It’s made for a really enjoyable makeup month 🙂

Sheena’s January 2017 Favourites

I’ve been absent most of January because I went back to work but also because… SURPRISE I’m having another baby! We’re expecting another little girl April 30th. She will be our happy accident 🙂 I can’t wait for her to meet her big sister and of course for us to meet her too!

Since I’ve gone back to work I’ve been far more motivated to do basic human things like shower and put on deodorant. My makeup has been minimal since I still need to get ready quickly but at least I’ve been doing it! Here’s my personal standouts for January 2017.

NARS lipstick Dolce Vita + Marc Jacobs Lip Liner Primrose combo

I got this combo in a Sephora Favourites lip set last year. I was originally considering trying to pan the NARS lipstick because I’ve never used up a lipstick. I felt this shade could be a good candidate to try to pan since it’s very sheer and pretty much the same shade as my lips. That would make it easy to throw on with just about any look. In the end I decided I had enough lippies to pan but I thought I’d give it a go with the lip liner just for fun. It’s evolved in to a staple for my morning makeup routine. I use this combo on my lips before I head to work. It’s the closest I can come to pulling off a nude brown shade. It tends to last me until about lunch time (I’ve been eating and drinking the whole time too). I then reapply a lip gloss I’m panning at lunch and throughout the day as needed. It works really great for me and I love it!

BareMinerals 5 in 1 BB Cream Shadow Blushing Pink

I wonder how many times me and Nat have favourited this??? Hehe

I got in to these cream shadows based on her recommendation. I really love them for work, light makeup days, and quick looks. They will crease if I’m doing rigorous activity so I wouldn’t wear this and then go for a hike but for work – perfection. I always set this shadow and sometimes just for fun I use a light dusting of my highlighter as a setting powder. It’s add a little oomph.

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter

I’m late to the game here. Everyone loves this highlighter. I grabbed it on a whim (I so do not need more highlighters) and have no regrets. This is another great for work product. It adds a slight glow but never looks metallic. It’s forgiving under harsh office lights. It’s an absolute gem!

Marcelle Gentle Makeup Remover for Sensitive Eyes

Nat mentioned in one of her YouTube videos that she was trying to get better at properly removing her waterproof mascara. I am guilty of that too so I decided to join her in her efforts of self improvement. I got this in a Marcelle gift set that was on clearance at Shoppers. I’ve been really enjoying it. It doesn’t irritate my eyes. It doesn’t leave a residue. And it fully removes my mascara. I also love buying things at Shoppers where I can get points or use points to purchase it. Win!

That’s my January! Please forgive the crap pictures. I’m trying to find the time to take photos but often the only time I have is at night. I will get better I promise!

Lastly, I feel like I mentioned Nat a lot but not Missy. Missy! Missy! Missy!!!

There.

Nat’s January Beauty Favourites | 2017

I don’t like January… It is cold, snowy, all the Christmas spirit is gone… and to top it off, we all got sick… boo… So for the 1st 2 weeks of the month, no makeup touched my face.. So I don’t have a ton to share with you guys this month.

FAB Vitamin Hydrating Mist

Being sick, my skin wanted hydration! So whenever I would go in my washroom, I would spray this on my face and omg… it feels so nice. It just feels hydrating and rejuvenating. I just love it. It made me feel so good during my cold.
