It’s that time of year!!! Holiday kits, sets, palettes and deals are here! I wasn’t able to go crazy during the Sephora sale but I have let myself gradually pick up some drugstore kits over the course of the past few weeks. I picked up 3 ELF sets. Are you curious about them? Good! Because I’m about to tell you all about them 🙂
These little kits retail for about $7 CDN and can be found at Loblaws and Rexall. ELF has several other kits out that vary in price point but these 3 were the ones that interested me. I first picked up the Lip Parade Lip Balm Set for $6.99 from Rexall.
The set includes 3 tinted lip balms from ELF. The tinted Lip Balms retail for $4 CDN each so $7 for 3 is a great deal! I love tinted balms, they’re so perfect for work or just tossing in your purse! I always have several on the go so this was a very Sheena kit.
I was surprised how pigmented the balms actually are. They are very moisturizing and last a shockingly long time given that they are a balm! So worth it!!
The $7 price tag makes this set a perfect stocking stuffer or Secret Santa gift! I think the shades are pretty universally flattering. Anyone from a tween, to a casual makeup wearer and even someone who loves full on glam makeup could appreciate a good quality tinted balm. I’d highly recommend this set.
The next 2 I purchased were from Rexall. They were on sale from $6.99 to $4.99! Even better! I got the Defined Eyes Set and the Prep & Play Set.
The Defined Eyes Set includes 3 eye brushes. I was already in the market for an arched eyeliner brush so for $1 more than a regular ELF brush I got 2 more brushes! I’m not sold on the smudger brush however I still think this is a good deal. It’d make a great gift in a cute little bag with some eyeliner. These type of brushes have specific uses so I’d say reserve this kit for someone who does actually wear eyeliner!
Lastly, the Prep & Play kit! I wanted to try the lip exfoliator from this set. I heard it was finer than the one they typically sell. I have to agree. I didn’t like the brown lip exfoliator; it was dry and too abrasive. This one is perfect and tastes like candy! I love candy! The lipstick included is a matte lip stick in the shade wine.
I love this shade! It’s so flattering. Deep and rich without making me feel weird in it.
The lipstick lasts a few hours before I need to reapply. It dries down satin-matte but not 100% matte. That’s ok with me. That means it’s not insanely drying. I like it!
This set is for the lippie lover on your list. The combo is perfect! I’m so happy I picked it up.
That’s it for the sets that I bought this year. I’m still interested in getting more because it’s such a good way to try ELF products. I’m going to hold off for more sales before I do. On my radar is Get Glowing Kit, the larger brush set, and the All About Eyes Kit. My advice for anyone interested in the ELF kits would be to look for ones that include products sold from their more premium lines. They will usually contain better quality products. Avoid the uber cheap eyeshadows. It looks so tempting but they’re usually best reserved for kids and not every day makeup wear.
And that’s it! I hope this was helpful 🙂
