Ride or Die Makeup Tag

Jaclyn Hill started this YouTube tag but I thought it would be fun to do in a blog form too! I mean, why not?!

So if you aren’t familiar with this tag, it is all about your ride or die makeup in each category. If you had to get rid of all your makeup but got to keep 1 of each category, what would you keep?

Primer – Make Up For Ever Step 1 Hydrating Primer

So I don’t have a super mega ride or die in this 1st category. I am still trying some out and haven’t fallen hopelessly in love. However, so far, this the one I prefer. I love a hydrating primer as I have dry skin (especially in winter) and it helps reduce the dry patches and helps my foundation look better. Next up I want to try the Too Faced HangoveRx

Liquid Foundation – L’Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion in N2

I’ve already used to containers of this. I love the dewy-ness for my dry skin, the coverage is buildable and exactly what I need. Love love love.

Powder Foundation – Kat Von D Lock-It Tatoo Powder Foundation

This is a product I will always have in my arsenal. I’ve gone through 4, maybe 5 of them and I have hit pan in my current powder. I love the coverage, it doesn’t catch on my dry skin, it is perfect.IMG_20160209_153731

Concealer – Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Concealer

Love love love love. I have repurchased so many times. I go back to it every time I try something new. The coverage is perfect, it doesn’t get caught in the fine lines under my eyes and the colours are perfect. I use light for matching my skin and fair for highlighting.

Under Eye Setting Powder – Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

This one was harder, I haven’t been using the Laura Mercier powder for long.. but it has made quite the impression on me. I love how it is a loose powder because I find it penetrates very well in my fine lines under my eyes and prevents creasing. winner!

Face Powder – Marcelle Quad Powder in Light / Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light

Ok so this one I cheated.. I added 2. Why? Because they each serve a different purpose in my mind… The Marcelle is for sure my Ride or Die when I am wearing a luminous foundation and it sets makeup very well. On a day-to-day the Hourglass leaves a great finish to the skin… So I use both and I would never get rid of either…

Bronzer – Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil

I tell you, NARS Laguna was not that far behind this one… but Too Faced won. Why? Because I am not a huge bronzer girl and I usually like a light hand for it. The Milk Chocolate Soleil is perfect for this, it is a great colour, and good for everyday. It blends very well, buildable and man oh man, smells amazing.

Blush – Clinique Cheek Pop in 14 Heather Pop

This was a no-brainer, this was the category that I knew right away what I would pick. I love this formula of blush and I love the glow they give to the cheek. Heather Pop is just the perfect colour that goes with any look. I wear this one all the time.

Highlighter – Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

This is everything. Sooo pigmented and beautiful. It gives an intense glow with just he perfect amount of warmth in it.

Eye Primer – Julep Blank Canvas Mattifying Eye Primer

I have been through soooo many tubes of this. The only part of my face that is oily, is my lids. I love that this is a cream-to-powder kinda formula that makes the shadow last a long time. It also has some colour to it. The only down side is that it dries out quicker that other ones I own because it is a creamy formula. But I don’t mind, I love it and I will keep using it.

Eyeshadow Palette – Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

This is the perfect palette. I can make everyday work look with this, which is very useful when you work in an office setting. Then with the darker shades and that purple-ish shade, you can bring it from day to nighttime look. This is the palette I would recommend to anyone who is starting out or just wants 1 palettes that does everything. Oh, and the fact that it smells like chocolate is amazing!

Eyeshadow Singles – Makeup Geek

I couldn’t put these as a palette since they aren’t technically a palette even if they are in Z Palettes. So I added a category so I could mention these. They are my favourite shadows and I reach for them all the time. I have created my best looks with them. The blend well, the range of colours is crazy and they have the most amazing formula in their foiled eyeshadows.

Eyeliner – stila smudge stick waterproof eye liner

I love these, they stay put all day, smudge nicely if you are trying to make a smoky eye, are pigmented and apply very smooth (they do not pull on the lids).

(the Kat Von D Tatoo Liner in Mad Max Brown was a close runner up, it didn’t win since I have just started using it…)

Mascara – Clinique High Impact waterproof

I almost picked the benefit Roller Lash, it was a close 2nd. What tipped the scale to the Clinique one is that if I could only have 1, I would pick a waterproof one.. so Clinique won. So I guess if I add a sub-category for non-waterproof, then benefit Roller Lash would be my ride or die 🙂

The Clinique makes my eyelashes full and very black. They just look luscious. I also love the non-waterproof version.

Roller Lash gives me everything I need. It gives volumes, length, curl. YES!20160827_111815

Lipgloss – Julep lipgloss in Splendid

Julep has my favourite formula of lipgloss. They are smooth, shiny, smell great and the pigmentation is perfect. Not too pigmented but also not too sheer. They aren’t sticky and my hair doesn’t get stuck in it.

Lipstick – NARS Audacious in Anita

The best lipstick formula and this colour is PERFECT. A lot of people talk about the colour Anna, but I like this one better since it is more brown than Anna, which is more pink.

Setting Spray – UD All-Nighter Setting Spray

This is the chill version but I like it as well. I think this makes your makeup stay on longuer especially on those days that you need long term wear.
