This September we went to a friend’s wedding. It was the first time I got dressed up in well over a year (trying to get dressed up nice when you’re super pregnant DOES NOT COUNT!). I slowly prepped for my friends big day by buying makeup for myself to ensure I look good from ceremony to the wee hours of the night! Through tears and through laughter 🙂 I was really happy with how my makeup held up and so this months faves is dedicated to my wedding guest face!
First things first. Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer!
This is a Holy Grail product for me! It never disappoints in creating a smooth base for my foundation and helping it last longer.
I also prepped my under eyes with Smashbox Photo Finish Under Eye Hydrating Primer.
I’ve been experimenting with an under eye primer and I think it really helps. If you have a good primer (such as the previously mentioned Hourglass primer) you can just use that primer under your eyes. This one from Smashbox also adds a cooling effect to my under eyes and helps with puffiness. I’ve noticed a difference in how my concealer goes on so I continue to use it.
Speaking of concealer…. Next up!!! NYX Dark Circle Concealer followed by NYX HD Concealer.
I like to apply a small amount of peachy toned concealer to counter the blueness under my eyes. I then apply a brightening concealer to help lift that part of my face and make me appear less tired.
My foundation choice for the evening was Too Faced Born This Way.
I’d only tested this out maybe twice before I wore it to the wedding. I knew I liked it but I hadn’t really put it to the test. Turns out it was a big success! It looked natural on my skin, offered medium coverage and lasted a very long time. It wasn’t dewy either. It had a nice satin finish. I am definitely happy with this purchase and will be keeping this for my “going out” foundation.
And lastly… I set it all with my Laura Mercier Powder
Another holy grail. It just works.
I was really happy that my foundation and concealer lasted the entire wedding. Through some tears (left my baby for the night at her Grandma’s for the first time), through many cheers and smiles and of course, several hours of partying 🙂 I have trouble making my makeup last but I feel like now I’m finally finding products that really work for me.
From there I used the usual; blush, bronzer/highlight, mascara and eye shadow but the star of the show (other than the bride) was my awesome skin. Loved it!
