Nat’s June Favourites – My Fav 5 Min Look

Hey beauty lovers. I know I say this every month, but man, I can’t believe the month is over.. half the year gone! It is crazy how time flies and I find I notice it more with my daughter that changes every day.

This month, I decided to do my favourites differently since I have been very lazy with my makeup this month. When I leave the house, the ponytail/5 sec makeup look so I don’t look half dead look is what I go for. Having said that, this is what my favs are this month, the look I create to be presentable to the world and try to get away while baby allows me.

This is a very quick look that I do sometimes in the morning if I know I am going somewhere or someone is coming over. I usually get about 30 mins after I give my baby girl her reflux meds to get dressed, brush my teeth, do my hair and makeup, change her and warm up a bottle. So I have to be quick!

I use the following items:

  • moisturizer
  • powder foundation
  • concealer
  • blush
  • face mist
  • optional lip gloss

For the sun, I use a moisturizer with SPF in it, every single day. My favourite is the pur-liss spf 30 essential daily moisturizer.

This is an expensive little sucker but I love it. It moisturizes very well and keeps the moisture in. It has a high SPF for a face moisturizer which I love. A tip, you can get these in some subscription boxes such as the special kits that sell or Luxebox. I have 3 and I got them all from those. If you are to buy the full bottle it’s $70 so I get the kits and get other items for less, even if the tube is smaller. I also like that this cream, even with the SPF doesn’t reek with that smell of sunscreen… you know the one I mean. I’ve had other moisturizers that the SPF smell just lingers and I can smell it all day. I have worn this cream in the hot of Florida before a Disney trip and never burned! My #1 choice for the summer.

Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Powder Foundation

Kat on D Powder Foundation. This is a staple for me, going on my 3rd one! It is my go-to on a day that I need less coverage and need a quick

Next, the foundation goes on. To reduce the effort, I just use the sponge applicator that comes with it and it gives a fuller coverage. This has been my favourite since I started loving makeup.

Next I use the Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser, again one of my favourites. I conceal under my eyes (where I need it most right now due to the lack of sleep) and then set it with the powder lightly after. I also put it on my eyelids to take away the redness and neutralize them. I just blend everything with my fingers.

L'Oréal Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser. My go-to concealer, quick application, creamy and hydrating.

Then, blush! essence silky touch in Sweetheart which I apply with the RealTechniques Blush brush.

Since I am on the clock and don’t have time to do a full face / eyeshadow look, this blush serves double purpose. As a blush, of course which looks very natural, and as an eyeshadow I apply to my lids with my fingers. Fresh and easy. At first, I wasn’t putting anything on my lids other than the concealer mentioned above but one day I found I looked pale and needed something else, so it popped in my head and I was like, why not?!

The Covergirl Super Sizer is my choice for non-waterproof. This mascara packs a punch and makes my eyelashes really black and stand out. It is a little clumpy and wet (it takes longer to dry) but for this look the bulk it adds to my lashes makes me look very awake. Check please! that is what I am looking for. Tired mama = needs to look awake.

At the end, sometimes I will add a little spray of the Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist.  It is very refreshing and even if it is not technically a setting spray, I still use it after my makeup is applied and it doesn’t mess it up. It just feels final you know?

I then keep some lipglosses in my purse and if I go out somewhere I will just add it to my lips and it just finishes the look. I have neutral ones like the Julep one in Splendid and a couple of the NYX Butter Glosses.

And that’s it. Those are all the items I use for this 5 min look. Of course you can you a different shade of blush or even add a cream eyeshadow you can easily apply to your lids with a finger and bam, instant look! Maybe that’s what I’ll do later.
