Today on Yay or Nay Sunday, we are looking at part 1 of the Sephora Collection – Disney Minnie Beauty Collection.
If you know anything about me, you know that I am a huge Disney fan. My parents took my husband and I on our 1st trip to Disney back in 2011 and I fell in love. The magic, the feeling of being in another place, it is amazing. Since then we have gone back twice (not enough imo… lol) but I have loved every trip. I also have to keep from buying cute things for my daughter when I see something Disney that is uber cute (see picture at the bottom of the post to see what I mean hehe).
Anyway, Disney used to have a makeup line and they have discontinued it. Since then they also have released compact mirrors at Sephora and now this Minnie Style collection. I will admit that I didn’t get these items for the quality of them but really for the novelty. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Let’s get into it.
In part one, I will talk about the lipstick, blush and the compact mirror.
I wanted to take a moment to talk about the packaging of the over all collection. I adore it. It is sleek and cheek. They managed to find the balance between high end makeup product and keeping the Minnie style. Minnie is known for her polka dots but with the red black and white, it could look childish. I am a fan of gold packaging so I think the combination of black and gold is a winner for me.
To add a special touch, they added Minnie’s autograph on each product. Fun fact, each Disney character has their on autograph and you can get it from them at the Disney parks. They are required to sign exactly the same every time.
Minnie’s Inner Glow Luminizer Blush
I almost didn’t want to swatch it or use it so I wouldn’t lose the nice Minnie Ears embossing in the powder. But I did it, cause I wanted to talk to you guys about it but also use it.
Swatching it feels a little hard, like it is pressed hard in the pan and it swatched ok. It is a light pinky peach colour that has some shine to it. When applying it, it is very light in colour even on my skin tone. I am fair/light and on me it is a nice flush of colour but not very dark. I tend to top it off with another colour, like Clinique Cheek Pop in Heather Pop, to add a bit more depth. But I love the flush it gives to my cheeks. If you are of the same skin tone as me, you could use it as a light blush a more intense highlight. If you have a darker skin tone, this will for sure just be more of a highlight on you.
Minnie’s Perfect Red Lipstick
Simply put, they wanted the perfect red, this is a perfect red lipstick. It is smooth and nice. I don’t wear red, so this is a very nice keepsake for me that proudly sits on my makeup shelves.
Reflection of Minnie Compact Mirror
This mirror is extremely cute. It is shaped like Minnie’s ears and folds on itself for compact storage. It is a little heavy, but that’s because it is not made cheap. The pouch it comes with is cute and I am happy they added one. This way it doesn’t open in your purse and get scratched. My only complaint is that I wish it would stand up on its on so I could display it when it’s not in my purse.
Well that’s it! I hope you enjoyed part one of this review. Part 2, next week!
