Sheena’s April 2016 Favourites

For the month of April I have totally been getting back in to wearing makeup. Taking the time out of my day to “put on my face” makes me feel human again. I make an effort to do it every day, even if I don’t ever change out of my PJs. Just because I have a baby doesn’t mean that I can’t indulge and do things to feel good about myself too! So far my routines have been all about dealing with this new change of hormones… new skin type, dealing with tiredness etc. Anyway – here’s a few of the items that I’ve been loving in April!

Thayer Alcohol Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner

Since I’ve been breastfeeding I’ve been struggling with dehydrated skin. This has resulted in an overhaul of my skincare routine (currently still underway). My skin loves rose-water. I definitely notice a difference when I use this toner. My skin drinks up my moisturizer after! It also helps that the Thayer toner is affordable, natural and cruelty-free 🙂

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss – Various

I’m on a bit of a BareMinerals kick lately! I keep these lip glosses in purses, baby bags etc. I love how they are double ended so one side is more neutral and the other is a pop of colour. Lip glosses such as these are so wearable. You can smack them on without a mirror and not worry about it. They add just a little something to my very bare makeup routine. I’ve fallen back in love with them 🙂

Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder

They hype is real. It’s the best thing that I have ever used under my eyes. It’s matte. It doesn’t change the colour of your under eye concealer. It lasts all day. And above all else – it doesn’t settle in your fine lines. This product is totally worth the splurge.

NARS Radiant Cream Concealer – Honey & Vanilla

The shade honey was recommended to me as a peachy toned concealer. It does the job – cancelling out the blueness under my eyes without being cakey or creasing. I stopped using it in the winter because I felt that it was starting to have a noticeable difference between the shade under my eyes and the rest of my face. I reached for it again after I got tired of using Benefit Erase Paste (it cakes up on me…). This time around I used the shade honey to cancel my under eye blueness and then went over top with vanilla to brighten and match the rest of my face. It totally works and I love it!

MAC Eyeshadow Palette Cool Neutral

I think this was a January Fave too… Oh Well!! It’s honestly been what I’ve been reaching for all of April. I love this palette because none of the shades are too anything. They’re not too shimmery, too glittery, too dark… They’re just right for very basic daytime looks. I can look at it and easily pick out shades that I want to wear. I do very basic looks with it and that’s ok! I find it so quick to use whereas when I grab a lot of my other palettes I spend a lot of time looking at the shades, deciding what to wear, feeling as though I should add a pop of something etc. For some reason this palette just works for me and I love it!

And that’s it for this month!
