So I have had a tough pregnancy so far but I am now off of work on rest, so I thought I would bring back the Yay or Nay series since I will have more time and energy to try out a ton of product! (stay tuned for some hauls coming too).
To restart the series, I thought I would review the L’Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion Buildable Luminous Foundation (phiew, that’s a mouthful).
This is a liquid foundation in a cushion. This is something that a few companies have come out with, including the first one a while ago was Lancôme and most recently Physicians Formula. I decided to try the L’Oréal one for a few reasons: I didn’t know if I would like this type of foundation so I didn’t want to spend the cash on the Lancôme one at $49 and the Physcian Formula one doesn’t have a good range of colour and I was afraid that it would be too dark for me. Also, I have dry skin, and terrible skin with the combination or pregnancy and winter, so the Lumi side of the L’Oréal one appealed to me.
The Lumi Cushion retails for $22.99 but don’t get it at full price! You can always find it on sale somewhere or a store that sells it for less. I got mine at Shoppers Drug Mart on sale for $17.99. I still think that for a drug store foundation it is expensive but if you like it compared to some Sephora brands, it could make your budget go further.
The packaging looks like a nice thick compact with a decent size mirror. There is a little cover over the foundation that houses a little sponge applicator that I suggest you use to apply the foundation. once you flip the over, you have the cushion with the foundation. I think it is well packaged and protected and you don’t have to worry about the sponge sitting in the product. Plus it’s cute with the rose gold and white.
I got the colour N2 Classic Ivory and I was afraid it would be too dark, not by the description of the colour but bu how it looked like when I opened it. To my surprise it is not, it runs lighter than I thought, just a tad too pink for my skin but it is so close that I can work with it no problem.
I have used this for over a week now and I LOVE it, more importantly my skin loves it. You have to understand just how bad my skin has been, especially my nose. Anything I put on my nose, even if it looks good on the rest of my skin, comes out out streaky, showing cracked, dry skin and just looks horrible. Hurray for pregnancy skin troubles! Anyway, I have to make due because there isn’t much that will save it, expect maybe this foundation. Yup, it looks decent on my nose! I couldn’t believe it hehehe. That asides, I just love how my skin looks with this foundation. It is for sure luminous, it don’t lie! If you have dry skin, you will love this, if you have oily skin, I would stay away from it at the risk of looking like a disco ball.
The Lumi Cushion gives my skin a healthy look that is pretty flawless, meaning it doesn’t make my pore looks big and it doesn’t settle in my lines. It is a light to medium coverage that feels light and comfortable on the skin. It last through my work day (from 7-5) with a little bit of fading but that’s without any retouching or powdering. For the optimum of it’s wear, I would say it lasts a good 6h.
I like to set it with Marcelle powder, even if I have dry skin, I think it needs to be set, so don’t forget this step :).
I for sure this give a big YAY this week, if you have dry skin, I suggest you try this foundation.
