I know, I know… I decluttered. But I got rid of TONS of stuff and I did so with the intent that I could go out and buy new stuff!! When I decluttered I found some gaps in my makeup collection that I wanted to fill plus I had been eyeing some brands that I wanted to try out. Once I made room and saved up some money I began splurging…
Makeup Geek Foiled Shadows on sales for half price ($30 USD, $50 CDN after tax, shipping and conversion)
I had been setting a little money aside specifically to order something from Makeup Geek during their Black Friday sales! It was a good time get something because the foiled kit I grabbed was half price! I find that shipping and the dollar conversion often prices me out of Makeup Geek so I specifically wait for sales. They arrived quickly and I was not disappointed in the quality. Nat wrote a huge post on Makeup Geek here and a Youtube video here so I will let you check that out if you’re interested 🙂
Buxom Kit ($37.50 on sale, down from $50. Palette alone is $50)
It was on my list to try out the new offerings from Buxom. I like the idea of building my own palette. I swatched the shadows in store and was impressed. The time was never right to take the plunge and drop $50 on a Buxom custom palette until one day, I logged in to the sale section of Sephora and they had this kit on sale from $50 to $37.50! It was already a nice deal at $50 since the palettes cost $50 and it came with an eyeliner and mascara. I felt this was a great deal and couldn’t pass it up! So far I’ve swatched it but haven’t tried it out yet. I’m a little disappointed because the shade I like the most does not swatch well at all 😦 It’s super dry and hardly has pigment…
Bite Beauty Mix ‘n’ Mingle Duo in Pepper and Cafe, $17 at Sephora
Shade “Pepper” (2nd one in the swatch above) has quickly become a favourite! It is the right shade for me and a ‘my lip but better’ kind of look 🙂 Plus I love Bite Beauty. They’ve kind of spoiled me for cheap lipsticks. I still buy me my drugstore lippies but so far none are as good as Bite Beauty. I like buying these duos because at $17 they’re a great deal for 2 high quality shades. I don’t wear enough lipstick to worry over the smaller amount of product. In this instance, I’d go for quality not quantity.
Tartlette Palette $54 + an additional 20% off! Yay VIB Sale at Sephora!
This was on my “to-buy” list for the Sephora sale. In fact, it was the only thing I bought. Sephora didn’t send me an email telling me that the sale was open to VIBs and their website didn’t indicate it either. I managed to make a remark that I was disappointed in missing the sale to Nat who promptly corrected me and found me the promo code! Crisis averted!! But seriously, I was rather miffed so I didn’t go crazy. I picked just this palette because after cleaning out my makeup collection I decided that I need 1 or 2 more matte palettes. So far, this is filling the gap on my lack of mattes nicely! No major complaints on the quality. I won’t bother reviewing this since so many people already have talked about it.
Sleek iDivine Palette in Oh So Special $15.99 Amazon.ca
This palette swatches beautifully. I’ve heard so many great things regarding Sleek Makeup that I really wanted to try them out. I picked up a blush from Amazon for $7.50 (and free shipping! Yay!) and was so impressed that I had to keep trying the brand out. I will do a review of this in the future because I have a lot of pros and cons to talk about. To start out with, the big pro is that this palette was only $15.99 on Amazon.ca and it included free shipping!
Wet’n’Wild Stay Wild trios in Bohemian Wrapsody and Freestyle Wrap ($3.49 each, Rexall)
I won’t be able to get a review out of these. I find them to be dry and crumbly due to the glitter. I think they need something such as a Mac Fix + to give them an extra hand. I’ve been considering buying Mac Fix + or a dupe so I figure I will hold off of trying these trios out until I pick one up. For $3.49 each, I’m happy but it’s not the Wet’n’Wild texture I’ve come to know and love.
Milani Blush ($7.99) + ELF Lipstick ($4) + ELF Blush Brush ($4) Loblaws
*sigh* a grocery store impulse buy… I LOVE the blush I picked up from Milani. I grabbed the shade Berry Amore and it is definitely making my December faves!
W7 Palette in Lightly Toasted, $11.89 Amazon.ca
This is another UK brand. They pump out blatant rip offs of far my pricey high end products. This palette is their Naked 1 dupe. I’ve been experimenting more with dupes, found this online and took a chance! I will be posting a full review on this guy too so stay tuned 🙂
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, using a coupon for Sephora for $20 off making this palette $47!!
After I bought the Buxom Kit above, I made VIB status for 2016. They sent me a coupon for $20 off anything that expired within a few weeks so naturally I had to spend it… After much deliberation and a series of frantic texts to Missy and Nat, I decided to buy something that would normally be too expensive for me to buy. The lucky product to make it home with me was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette and I am SO DAMN GLAD I bit the bullet and got it.
So a lot of these products I got over a period of pays and some stuff I had been saving up to get. It feels like a lot of makeup! Likely because it is… still, I’m really happy with everything and I can’t wait to write some reviews for the W7 palette, Buxom Kit and Sleek Palette.
