If you’ve been reading this blog on Fridays you’ll know that I’m currently obsessed with the Fall 2015 Make-up Trends. Between my birthday and the Sephora VIB event I’ve picked up some great items to get me set up to try out some of the new trends!
- Bite Beauty Maple Matte Crème Lipstick in Candied Maple
This limited edition lipstick is inspired by maple leaves and the Fall’s matte lip trend. This is a great matte lipstick since it’s moisturizing and the color is amazing due to its depth, warmth, and longevity. What makes this lipstick extra special is it is infused with the delicious scent of maple so it’s a treat for your sense of smell as well as your lips! I usually don’t wear bold lips but this formula is so good that I’m sorely tempted to get the whole collection!
2. Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zings Shaping Kit in Light
This eyebrow shaping kit comes with the essential tools you need for enhancing, creating, and/or faking the ‘Brushed up Brows’ look that is so ‘in’ right now. The kit includes a soft, pigmented wax that defines and helps hold your desired brow shape; the complementing setting powder fills in sparse brows; and the best bit is the tools: mini tweezers for pesky stray hairs, a hard angle brush, and a blending brush! Even though it’s a physically tiny kit for $42 CAD, I feel that it is worth the cost since you’re essentially getting 5 things. I calculated that if I bought those five items separately I would spend more than $50! If you’re going to embrace big brows – GET THIS KIT! You’ll thank me!
3. Tarte Amazonian Clay Universal Lip Liner
This is possibly the best lip liner/lip primer I have ever had the pleasure to use! I’m actually considering purging my other lip liners (even the Urban Decay ones! *gasp*) because this is the best thing since sliced bread, diamond rings, and ‘to-go’ coffee cups! I have bad lips. 30+ Canadian winters, an aversion to lip balm, and a terrible habit of biting my lips have aged my pout before its time. However, this nifty stick fills in and softens the imperfections and the neutral shade compliments every shade of gloss or lipstick I own. It lasts for 4-6 hours (I’d recommend to reapply it after a meal). I’d say this is a NEED BUY item if you plan on tackling either the bold matte lip trend or the incandescent lip trend.
4. Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Industrial-Strength Full Coverage Concealer in Light
This concealer is marketed as ‘industrial length’ and even though I don’t know exactly what that’s supposed to mean, I must say this is a great product. I never thought anyone could make me switch allegiances from my Nars concealer, but honestly this great product is giving my old concealer a run for it’s money! I would say that this creamy, layerable concealer is a must have for the Fall’s matte face. This stuff lasts and can be ‘shellac-ed’ on without creasing (even under notoriously crease-y eyes!). This is a great matte concealer and it’s certainly the one I’m reaching for at the moment!
As much as I hate to see summer go I am looking forward to the Fall and putting my new make-up through it’s paces!
