I picked this up at Shoppers for $6.95. It’s a makeup remover that doesn’t require rinsing after you remove your makeup. I thought it’d be fun to do a review on it for the $10 Weekly because it’s hard to find products like this for less than $10. After my first use I basically could say “Yup. It works.” I was a little disappointed in how boring it is to describe makeup remover… but then. Then I thought what if I do a show down between Bioderma and Marcelle 3 in 1 Micellar Solution??? So this is what we have here for this weeks post. A mortal combat of makeup removers.
I decided to run it like a science experiment. I swatched each of these products on my arm in 3 sections. 1 to be removed with water, one to be removed with the Marcelle 3 in 1 Micellar Solution and the last one to be removed with Bioderma. The use of water is a control. It gives us something common to compare each product againt. *Note: I swear by the combo of Smashbox Primer and Smashbox Photo Op eyeshadow as waterproof eyeshadow! I’ve swam with it and had no other makeup left on my face save for my eyeshadow!*
Surprisingly based on the swatches above, it looks to me like Marcelle does a better job of initially removing makeup! The Kat Von D liner from the Marcelle photo is more broken up than on the Bioderma picture. Of course, when you remove the entire thing or makeup from your face both products work great. If what you’re trying to do is get the most bang for your buck, I’d check out the flyers and grab either one when it’s on sale. The 150 ml version of Marcelle 3 in 1 Micellar Solution is $6.95 at Shoppers but the full sized version does retail close to $19.99 and has 300 ml bottle. Bioderma is also close to $19.99 with 250 ml in the bottle HOWEVER they have a bigger bottle for $26 that contains 500 ml. They seem to be priced within each other. Now – as a good Canadian I must remind you that Marcelle is also Canadian 🙂 So if you’re interested in buying local at all, reach for Marcelle’s version 🙂
