On this week’s Yay or Nay Sunday, Bite Beauty Opal Lipgloss. Next week we will look at the lipstick. I decided to review the lipgloss first because I have been wearing it non-stop since I received it and feel confident that I have put it to the test.
Bite came out with these Opal products and at first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try them, it was like… meh how gimmicky. But I decided to take the plunge and got the lipgloss and the lipstick.
Let’s get started with the Opal Lipgloss. It retails for $25 CAD and is now available both online and in stores. Here is what the Sephora website describes the lipgloss as:
What it is:
A transformational and pearlescent lip gloss in a opal shade for a slick of opalescent shine.
What it does:
Transformational and pearlescent, Bite Beauty’s Crème Gloss creates a lip look with ultraviolet dimension. Silky and nourishing, the two-tone pearl gloss can be worn alone or on top of any lip color for an alluring, pearlescent lip with high-shine and shimmer.
I actually really like this. I give it a YAY rating. It goes on smooth and thick enough so that you get instant colour. I didn’t expected to be as pigmented as it is. I expected that it would only really show on top of another colour, but I was wrong. Only one swatch and bam! colour! and a nice one too, I love purple! I like the iridescent purple sheen. Love it. I also like that it is wearable alone or to transform any lip colour you want. It has a nice triangular doe foot applicator that is slightly angled for an easy application. It doesn’t really have a smell, which I like because sometimes, even if the gloss is awesome, if the smell sickens me, I will never wear it. I am happy that is not the case with this lipstick. As far as the staying power, on its own, it is decent, not super amazing but in the end, it is a gloss. It is not sticky at all and feels great on the lips.
Here are the swatches. I tried to capture the iridescence in light so you can see how it reflects beautifully the shades or purple and white. It is just gorgeous. You can see what it looks like on the lips alone and on top of lipstick below.
Before – NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna
After, I added the Opal Lipgloss on top of Anna
As you can see, it looks great by itself and can transform any lipstick, gloss, chubby sticks or even on top of a lip liner. The one thing that you have to watch out for is that the doe foot applicator gets very dirty with the colour of the lip product you put on it. So if you don’t wipe it off before putting it back in the tube, you may end up with the nice opal colour to be tinted by the colours you put back inside.
Come back next week for my review of the lipstick!
