Before I get into this week’s Yay or Nay Sunday, I just want to give a shout out to all the fathers out there. Happy Father’s Day! A special shout out to my dad, I love you so much, and also to my brother-in-law who is celebrating his first Father’s Day!
This week we have a Nay, yes readers, a Nay. Well I guess it’s more a “meh” than a full-out Nay…
The Essence Lash & Brow Gel Mascara is the feature of this post. I’ve read some reviews and after putting this to the test… I don’t think I agree with most people.
The packaging is super cute, I love the blue and the see through container. I like seeing the brush and how much product is left however I can see that it can get dirty very quickly. Since this is a product you would put on after your brows are done, the brush will get dirty and then so will the tube and clear liquid (but maybe you don’t mind that!).
One of the reasons that for me this is a meh, is because the formula is very wet. OK, I know this sounds funny for a jelly/liquid product, but it doesn’t dry quickly. I use the Benefit Gimme Brow on a daily basis and when I apply this lash & brow mascara, it removes and moves some of the product. Also, to be very honest, in the morning at 6:30am before heading to work for 8 hours, I don’t want to struggle with smudged eyebrows and don’t have the time to let it dry.
I also tried it on my eyelashes. Before the mascara, again I had to let it dry… ugh. After the mascara, caused a mess because of the wet formula. As you can see in the picture above, my eyelashes almost touch my hooded lid so when a mascara is too wet, it turns into a hot mess and I get patches everywhere. I wish I had taken pictures… However, I didn’t purchase the lash & brow mascara for the lashes but for the setting brow gel.
As all Essence products, the price is pretty low at $2.99 which is for sure a plus. If you have the time and patience to let it dry and want your eyebrows set for a short time, then this is your go-to. For me, its just not worth the time effort for the little pay off.
