I’ve heard a little buzz about this concealer but not nearly as much as I hear about the Maybelline Fit Me concealer or the Lumis. To be honest, I’m not sure why more people aren’t talking about this concealer!? Perhaps it’s because it’s hard to find it’s high end equivalent? Anyway, that’s all beside the point. The bottom line is; here is a heavy duty concealer that retails for $5.98 at Walmart and that works!
Just to get this out of the way… the pencil it came with was inconsequential to me. I looked at it, swatched it and found it too dark and promptly lost it… This post is on the concealer not the random pencil that it includes.
This concealer is thick. It’s serious business. A very tiny bit does a lot. And if you over do it you might have a hard time removing the excess. I played with brushes and tried using my fingers but a beauty blender seems to work the best with this concealer due to it’s thick consistency. A Beauty Blender will help spread it out evenly and remove the extra product. You can work it with your fingers too but I wasn’t able to make it work with a brush. It ended up looking streaky.
The Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer stays put all day. I put this on my hand, washed my hands (a lot since I went to the washroom a few times), showered and the next day it was STILL THERE! I mean it was faint but I could see it. This stuff lasts. It also spreads out well and has a super thick consistency that sets nicely and dries matte. It plays nicely with other concealers which makes it an excellent choice for someone with heavy discoloration and under eye circles such as myself. You get a seriously heavy duty concealer to place over top of your colour correcting concealer.
I did have some struggles with fine lines and am still working on the best way to use it, but the potential is there. Especially for the price. A good concealer is one of those products that I personally would spend good money on since I have such dark circles. To find something that could work for me that is available at Walmart and retails for $5.98 would be nothing short of a miracle! I’ve been using this product for over a month and find that I would repurchase this one rather than the Fit Me concealers. I’d also recommend it for someone who has problem skin and needs to hide things such as scars, dark spots, bad acne (although I can’t speak to if it would cause break outs since that’s not my issue but it’s worth trying).
Overall, for $5.98 the Hard Candy Glamoflauge is a great bargain. If you struggle with major colour discolourations this is something you should look in to. As I mentioned, I’ve been working on the best way to deal with it settling in my fine lines but I do find it manageable. I’m also 32 so if your in your early 20’s this is likely a non-issue to you.
PS while researching this post I found some people compare this to Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Concealer. I have never even looked at the product so I can’t comment but if you know it and are a fan maybe this is a nice, inexpensive alternative for you?
