Yummy Mummy Gift Review Edition: Meet Your Match by Sephora

For all those who have a yummy mummy in their lives – it’s time to get on the Sephora website and order her this great little kit. I treated myself to this $30 CAD kit last month and I have LOVED it. The pampering potential and daily wear ability is high and the colours are geared for spring. Now that my sweet little one has started to sleep longer chunks I’m FINALLY able to paint my nails again; and applying lippies are my go to for a quick glam-up. Threfore, this nail and lip kit is perfect for busy mums who like to treat themselves.

Let’s look at the matches!

The Corals: Deborah Lippmann and Tarte

The Deborah Lippmann nail polish is originally what drew me to this kit. Debororah Lippmann polishes are high quality, dry quickly, and last. However their $20-22 CAD price tag makes me cringe at buying a full bottle (I mean how many of us EVER get through a full bottle of nail polish?!) So the mini Lippmann in this reasonably priced kit sold me right away. The polish “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”perfectly matches the Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tint in “Elite”. Both colours are amazing corals that are perfect for Spring. This lip tint already made it into my April favourties because it LASTS, hydrates, and is so simple to apply since it comes in a crayon format. So already this kit is a HUGE win for me and totally worth the $30 price.

The Nudes: Formula X and Hourglass

Now let’s move on to the neutral set of Formula X Nail Color in Invincible and Hourglass Cosmetics Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss in Child. These are the colours that I thought would be my go to in the kit. I know and trust the brands and you can’t really go wrong with neutrals right? Well would you believe these were my least favourites? Formula wise they were awesome but just not as much fun! Maybe even a little too pale for fair skinned me. If you are in the market or shopping for someone who loves pale neutrals than they will love these. Despite the light colour I only needed two coats for the Formula X polish to be opaque and lovely and I have to add that the polish is incrediably forgiving. The Lip Gloss seems to be a limited edition colour (so if you need to have ALL the Hourglass High Shine Lip Gloss colours then you NEED this kit). It’s a nice gloss but I’ll be more likely to layer it over another lippie than wear it alone since the colour is ‘meh’.

The Purples: Nails Inc. and Bite Beauty

Last but not least are the brand/colour I was dreading in this set:  Nails Inc. Devonshire Row Nail Polish and Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Strangefruit.  I had bought a Nails Inc Autumn nail kit that I DESPISED (the nail colour was very thick, took FOREVER to dry, and then CHIPPED within 12 hours … tried it out 3 times with 3 different colours from the set … and was beyond frustrated each time) and the lip gloss is a KER-AZY purple shade that I doubted I could pull off. I was pretty sure these would be my ‘give away’ items from the set … but they became my favourites! The Nails Inc. colour is my favourite and the formula must’ve overwent a rehaul because I had NO issues with the application and it lasted 11 days with no fussing! The Bite Beauty Gloss is TOTALLY wearable and is a super fun colour for Spring. It’s a pretty pale fushia on the lip and the formula is fantastic!

All this to say that this is a very accessible and awesome kit. I think that there is something in here for everyone and I bet any mum would be psyched to receive it (explain how pretty the purple gloss is ON if your mother gives you a weird look … or be bad and steal it for yourself!).
