Update July 2015: I recently did a video on these blushes, come check it out here!
Clinique is one of my favourite beauty brands. Why? Great value for the money. Their items are a little less expensive than other comparable brands sold at Sephora, but the quality is still there. They are Canadian (always a plus), they have a huge range of products and skin care that is targeted by skin type and so far, I haven’t been disappointed with their products. Some of my favs include the Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balms, the Almost Lipstick in black honey, the moisturizer Moisture Sure Extended Thirst Relief and finally, the star of the day, the Cheek Pop Blushes. ❤ ❤ ❤ I am SO excited to talk to you about these!!! At the end of the post, I will let you know what my favourite colours are 🙂
Recently, my town just had one of the 1st Nordstrom open its doors in Canada. SUPER excited! And if you follow me on Instagram (@nat_3canadianbeauties) you saw that I posted about these beauties. I saw these pop blushes sitting at Nordstrom in new colours… I was like, WAH??? when did this happen?? CLINIQUE then responded to say they have just launched these new colours. I could not find them on the Clinique site, on the Nordstrom site or the Sephora site. Now, they have just been released on the Sephora website for VIB Rouge only ($24 CAD), so I assume soon they will be all over the place (the day this is posted, April 8, they are now available to all). Well, if you loved the originals, you will love these. I noticed that the number of the colours are from 01-15 and I have 12 of them… which leads me to think that I am missing 3 colours 😦 Clinique, please tell me where I can get the missing ones! (#06, 09 and 11)
Be ready for a long post that I think you will LOVE. Lots of pictures, swatches, and comparison with the “Original 4” colours that have been out for a long time. So strap yourself in and enjoy the ride of the Cheek Pop!
Back to Basics
If you have never used these, I thought I would take a little bit of your time reading this for a review before we get to swatch fest and my impressions of the new colours.
First, can we take a moment and pause and look at this pa.cka.ging. It is MORE than adorable. O.M.G. Plus, they are nice and sturdy and guess what, you can see the colour right through! Plus, the cute flower pattern.
When you swatch with your finger, the colour looks very pigmented, but once blended, and they blend like a dream, it just glows and gives, like the name says, a pop of colour. That is my favourite thing about these, they glow on your skin, they look dewy, I can say it other ways too if you want lol.
I find the blush is well pressed in the packaging so I like to use a denser brush with these blushes. I use the Julep blush brush which allows me to grab enough colour and blend it where I want it.
The Original 4
(If you want to go straight passed to the new 8, scroll passed the first four swatches)
01 – ginger pop
Ginger Pop. As you can see, this colour is loved because I have had it for a long time and the other colours are newer. However, you can still see some of the flower pattern! yay! This is one of my favourites for the summer. Dare I say… I like this more than NARS Orgasm. Yes, I said it. It’s out there now! And pssst, its $9 cheaper. Nice peachy/pink with some shimmer that adds a glow.
02 – peach pop
Peach Pop. A similar colour to ginger pop but more orange.
The New 8!
05 – nude pop
This colour is suttle but lovely. On a natural day makeup, this is perfect. It gives a nice natural glow. Major Love for this colour.
06 – cola pop
Even if this colour is extremely pretty, it is too dark for my skin tone. If you have a darker complexion, this would be gor-geous. I think I am going to try to mixing it with another colour and see how that works out.
08 – melon pop
In the peachy family, this is the lightest of the 3 shades in this range. The darkest is ginger pop followed by peach pop and then melon pop. This colour is very subtle. Gives a nice sheen and perfect for a natural summer day with a small pop.
10 – fig pop
This colour is darker thank nude pop and browner than ginger pop. This is one of my favourites.
12 – pink pop
This colour is very similar to one of the original 4, plum pop. It is very pretty and a nice pop of pink. But if you own plum pop, I do not think you need both.
13- rosy pop
This shade is just lovely. A little darker than pink pop for a more natural look.
14- heather pop
This is my favourite. It is a little mauve and I love the glow on my skin.
15 – pansy pop
Perhaps one of the most unique colour of the bunch in my opinion and the 1st one I reached for and was attracted to on the Nordstrom display. Perfect spring/summer colour.
My top three colours are Heather Pop, Ginger Pop and Pansy Pop. That was a hard decision… but I chose! Just for you 🙂
Let me know which one is your favourite! Happy shopping.
