I found this brow duo at Walmart for $5.98. It has a tinted brow gel with fibers on one end and a brow highlight on the other. I’ve been looking to see if I can find a more drugstore priced alternative to Benefits Gimme brow which retails for $28 at Sephora. For $22 less than the Benefit version plus containing a brow highlight, I was pretty excited to try this one out!
My first impression of the Hard Candy Fiberized Brow Gel was pretty good! I like the size of the brush, I felt the tint matched my brows very nicely and the fibers did help fill out a few spots in my brows that need a little love. The immediate draw back that I found was that the product is rather goopy.
The highlight product seems to have a little promise as well. It’s a touch dry and required a little work to blend. Nothing that was a show stopper or anything but I did feel that I had to be careful when I got close to my eyebrows.
Sadly I didn’t get to play with it too long. I used it twice before this happened:
I accidentally knocked it off of the counter and it broke in half!
The verdict: For the price, this would have been worth taking some more time with to test. I considered going back to buy a new one since I felt that the flaws could be workable. Given that high end alternatives to this product are 4x the price, I can deal with a few clumps and taking some extra time to blend the highlight. However for me, the fragile packaging is a fatal flaw. I travel regularly for work and I do not want this happening in my makeup bag in the air. Nothing is worse then arriving in your hotel room to a mess in your luggage! For that reason, I personally won’t re-purchase this product however I do think there could be value here for someone that doesn’t mind being gentle with the packaging.
