Lumi Vs. Lumi

Lumi vs Lumi

Both Maybelline and L’Oreal have promised a “luminous” concealer that both hides imperfections and discoloration while brightening the skin. I heard through the world of youtube vloggers and beauty bloggers that one or both these luminous products (both having the word “Lumi” in their name thus causing me some confusion) were a dupe for some high end concealers. In particular one from YSL.

I picked up the L’Oreal Magic Lumi corrector, having no idea that Maybelline also had a Lumi of their own. I liberally applied this creamy concealer on my under eyes and was over joyed by how blendable it was and how it wasn’t drying for my sensitive under eye area. 2 weeks later – the product was EMPTY!

You can’t really see it but when I try to use it a very transparent liquid will come out and that’s it!

Nothing will come out any more!! I suspect it might be the packaging but I can’t tell. It was sealed when I bought it so I know it wasn’t used at the store. Needless to say I was rather disappointed. So, I went back to the store…

I found the Maybelline DreamLumi! I wondered if I got my Lumi’s crossed so I purchased Maybelline’s version to try it. Less than 2 weeks later I’ve used almost half the product.

As you can see, it’s nearing the half way point. I haven’t used it as liberally as I did my other Lumi.

I guess it’s doing a little better than L’Oreal but still… I’m not really happy about this. Both of these concealers cost about $12 full price each. And yes that’s a far cry from a $50 concealer from YSL but I simply don’t want to have to go to the store every 2 weeks to replace a concealer. Especially since about 3 months ago I purchased the Maybelline Fit concealer and it’s still got a fair amount of product left in it.

So in my humble opinion – in the battle of the Lumi’s don’t bother. Just buy a Fit.
